David Immanuel, M.D., PhD
Dr. Immanuel is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in cataract surgery (with advanced intraocular lens implants) and refractive surgery, including femtosecond-laser LASIK. He also specializes in corneal transplant surgery.
Dr. Immanuel earned his bachelor’s degree from Wesleyan University, graduating Phi Beta Kappa. He next earned both his Medical Doctorate and Doctorate of Philosophy from the New York University School of Medicine. Dr. Immanuel fulfilled a medical internship at York Hospital and a residency in ophthalmology at the University of Maryland, where he served as chief resident. He then completed a fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery with Dr. Theodore Perl at Corneal Associates of New Jersey.
Dr. Immanuel is currently on staff at North Shore University Hospital in Plainview and Syosset, Winthrop University Hospital, and Nassau University Medical Center, where he instructs medical students and residents. In addition, he is a surgeon at ambulatory surgical centers in Suffolk and Nassau counties.
He is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the American Medical Association, the New York State Ophthalmological Society, the Medical Society of the State of New York, the Nassau County Medical Society, and the Lion’s Club.
